PARIS AGAIN 1: Back to Paris for another day, and I got lots of sightseeing done again! All in the planning...
I love the tourism sign for Australia right near the Eiffel Tower! I love home and I miss it, but I'm afraid having the Eiffel Tower right there makes you think Paris is a pretty cool place to be instead if you can't be at home!
The base of the Eiffel Tower surrounded by beautiful gardens
Looking up at the tower
Underneath: I think I came to visit at a perfect time because there were hardly any people at all. I've mentioned before I seem to have a penchant for climbing towers: well now I can say I've climbed the tower to beat all towers ha ha!
The view of the Champ de Mars from the second level of the tower: this is where the military cadets used to parade
The Seine with the shadow of the tower
Jardins de Trocadero
Just below the top of the tower is an observation room with the distances to major cities and capitals. It made me feel a long way from home to see Sydney at 16,962km. Geelong's even further!
A view over the city from the very top
The view to the Arc de Triomph
After climbing the tower I headed to Montmartre for another beautiful view out over the city
The Basilique du Sacré Coeur, at the top of the Butte (hill) de Montmartre
A carousel near the basilica
Another view of the church, which is quite beautiful inside with lots of stained-glass windows
