ARLES: Onto the photos from my big trip! The first city I stayed in was Arles (prounced Arl), a small town famous for being the place where Van Gogh painted many of his paintings and also being the gateway to the Camargue, a nature reserve where you find wild white horses and Camargue bulls
Arles' amphitheatre
The Alyscamps: those of you who like Van Gogh might recognise this from one of his paintings. It's a long avenue lined with tombs, all empty now, and a little church surrounded by ruins at the end of it

The church
A Camargue bullfight: I have to say I hated this, even though they didn't kill the bull it was just torment for the poor thing, teasing it and making it run around until it was exhausted. Yes it was skilful of the guys who had to get the ribbons off the bull's horns, but definitely not entertainment if you ask me
The crowd in the arena
One of the poor tormented bulls, they come from the Camargue and they really are an impressive animal. Very large and obviously quick, and they can jump too, often they would jump over the fence and into the race surrounding the arena
